Counselling
Traditional talk therapy for children, families, and adults. From a Person-Centered and Humanistic lens, I prioritize creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship together so that you can explore your thoughts, beliefs, behaviours, somatics, emotions, and needs. I will guide you to create goals for therapy, acknowledging that you are the expert in your own life, and will offer evidence-based modalities tailored to your treatment plan.

Trauma Therapy for Children and Families
When a child has experienced a traumatic event and are having difficulty recovering from that event, they might benefit from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment that is effective for reducing post-traumatic stress symptoms in children aged 3-18 years old. TF-CBT is not for every child who has experienced a traumatic or upsetting event. Children will be screened for eligibility using a trauma screening tool and clinical interview with their parent/caregiver and the child, when appropriate, and information about the treatment will be provided to the guardian for consent. Should the child not be eligible or the guardian does not want the child to participate in TF-CBT, I can otherwise provide counselling services to them. Evidence-based treatments that are appropriate for their presenting issues, symptoms, and goals for counselling will be used.

Connect Parent Group
This group is offered to parents at no cost.

Connect is a 10-week virtual or in-person program to support parents and caregivers of pre-teens and teens with behavioural and emotional problems. Parents meet in small groups with two trained group leaders for 90 minutes each week. Each session provides parents with a new perspective on parent-teen relationships and adolescent development. Parents watch role-plays and try exercises that encourage more choices for responding to their teens’ difficult behaviour. We understand that each child and each parent is different and change is part of development. Rather than teach only one way of parenting, we help parents to see alternatives in dealing with their teens in ways which support healthy relationships while setting limits and helping their teen to move forward.
